The innovative and technological SaveMyRoom project was born from an idea by Gianmaria Vitagliano way back in 2020, when he was managing a hotel on the island of Tenerife.
Over time, this idea has grown stronger, so much so that the need to realize it has become a reality. It will bring a significant shift in the way people choose to book a night in a hotel.
WHO WE ARE
Describing who we are is an important step, because we're just getting started, but we certainly know what SaveMyRoom is and what we want it to become.
SaveMyRoom is a platform, a software that allows you to address various personal and professional needs while simultaneously having a positive economic impact on various stakeholders.
This platform is an automated platform accessible to everyone. Access is available to hotels, which will have a direct sales channel, anyone who needs to book one or two nights at most for special last-minute needs, and all public transport companies that need to find last-minute accommodation for their passengers and employees. This platform was born from the need to give anyone who needs to find a last-minute hotel the opportunity to use the most convenient and closest geographic location, with a BAR rate that allows them to be more competitive than other platforms (depending on the hotel listings), saving 10 to 40%.
Why was this platform created?
Because there are always last-minute needs that are not currently handled by any booking channel, such as Booking.com, Expedia, Trip Advisor, or the hotel's own page. In fact, this idea was born from a practical example: an airport emergency that was handled in such a way that this platform could have been handled much more simply and, above all, quickly.
What is it for?
SaveMyRoom will be a platform, as I mentioned before, that will have several users, which I list below:
Hotels
First and foremost, we need to focus on hotels. In SaveMyRoom, the number of properties listed will be crucial because it will allow anyone needing a place to stay the night to be chosen quickly and easily.
The advantage for hotels will be being able to sell those rooms that remain empty, increasing revenue and turnover, with an attractive rate that is the same as that offered to travel agencies. Furthermore, they will not have to pay the same commission percentage as Booking.com, but the commission will be only 10%.
The bookings will be instant payment and will be automated, meaning there will be no need for professional support such as a sales or revenue manager.
Users
Anyone who wishes can access the platform through the website or via various mobile devices by downloading the app. Users who use SaveMyRoom will have the opportunity to book a hotel room at the last minute, where they can relax and spend the night without searching through the numerous properties available on other channels, as it will work by geographic area.
They will also have the best available rate.
We know that these days, the need to find a room at the last minute is increasingly frequent. For example, business meetings that end at a different time, compromising the professional or personal travel of those attending the meeting; passengers who arrive late at the airport and are forced to fly the next day; and those who are visiting a city and decide at the last minute to spend a night in or near that city to continue their visit.
Public transportation companies.
Regarding public transportation companies, I will primarily focus on airlines, however, this is a common issue for all companies because SaveMyRoom is a platform that responds to a common, not exclusive, need.
Currently, several airlines, especially those offering a package of services for their passengers—the well-known holiday packages from Jet2, for example—have exclusive contracts with hotel chains and individual hotels. These contracts regulate rates as well as a total annual number of bookings, known as a coupon.
Now imagine that on a Saturday evening, a flight that was supposed to carry more than 150 people from an arrival to a departure destination is canceled due to any disaster (natural disaster, aircraft failure, strikes, fires, etc.). The procedure now is for each of these insured passengers to be escorted to a facility that has a contract with the airline, provided there is availability.
And as long as someone at the hotel with the decisive power to authorize the arrival of these people has the authority to apply a discounted rate. The result, in most cases, is that passengers always arrive at the hotel 3 or 4 hours after the inconvenience, and stay there for 3 or 4 hours at most before returning to the airport with the hope of departing again. The result: bad mood, stress, and complaints that will lead airlines to refund thousands of euros.
The solution? SAVEMYROOM, with VIP access, airlines will have their own home page for their accounts, where with one click they can simultaneously reserve all the rooms available for sale in a specific geographic area under their existing contracts.
SaveMyRoom is a new platform that responds to a specific need: finding last-minute accommodation for a maximum of two nights.
It differs from all other sales channels for several reasons: it is not a last-minute holiday platform; in fact, here you can only book for one or a maximum of two nights.
This isn't a channel where you can find thousands of hotels. No, it only works based on hotel availability and, above all, within a geographical area defined by the user.
It's the answer to all transport companies that today, as the numbers below demonstrate, increasingly need to find last-minute accommodations for their employees and passengers.
